A design is a way to plan ahead what you are looking for and if it’s feasible to do so. A design also makes it clear to you and your contractor to visualize how the project is going to be and how it will look.

Is a design accurate enough for construction?

The Idea ofa design is to make the project go smooth by using it as a reference with measurements on the drawings and the placement of equipment and fixtures. You plan the space with going through with the designer’s knowledge and advice.

Are design fees expensive?

Everything will depend on the complexity on the project and/or the time spent on the design.

Why a Remodeler/Contractor needs a design?

Most contractors as people, do not visualize the project well. Most contractors are not good at planning spaces. A design will help them make the project go smooth as they have drawings with measurements to also, not have the need to give their employees instruction on every line item. By having the design at hand, all the instructions and specifications will be present.

What else is included in the design?

For visualization every design will have a certain number of renderings where everybody will see their future project in a realistic view. The design will also include fixtures specifications, equipment, and scope of work. Will also include material selections, paint, and details if necessary. All of this, to be included in the design, most be selected before the project starts. If not, they won’t be included but will be decided between their owner and contractor while the project is running.
